In this series of posts, we’re going to look at the ten weight loss ‘secrets’ you need to know if you want to lose weight and keep it off. I believe these tips will work for almost everyone, even if you’ve always been overweight and you believe you’re naturally fat.
If you just want to lose a couple of pounds, maybe you don’t need these tips; the powerful techniques I’m going to discuss here may be overkill for you. But if you struggle to lose weight, and even if you’re very overweight, you can lose weight successfully with these techniques.
All my life I’ve been interested in science and how the body works. After watching others try and fail to lose weight, I spotted a common factor; I believe that many people fail to lose weight simply because they don’t understand some of the basic science behind weight loss. They are not lacking in motivation; they attend exercises classes, eat ‘healthy’ foods and they are always beating themselves up about their weight. Yet they still can’t shed those extra pounds. Why?
After a great deal of research, study and observation, I came up with what I believe to be some of the key reasons as to why losing weight ends up feeling to some people like an impossible goal.
Losing Weight Is Easier Than You Think
But wait — isn’t losing weight hard because it involves living on salads and cereal bars, and attending yoga classes? Read on to find out why these things aren’t as much use as you may believe and why you don’t need them; unless of course, you happen to like salads and yoga (cereal bars I advise you to steer well clear of, along with most other ‘health’ foods; I’ll explain why later!).
The ten ‘secrets’ below are listed in the approximate order that I believe you should follow them to ensure your chances of success. In fact, I could have called this article ‘The 10 Steps to Successful Weight Loss’. In other words, I advise starting with article 1 and working through to article 10. Each step is important, and later steps may prove impossible without earlier ones.
However, if I had to single out one tip that I consider more important than the others, probably it would be step 6: Understand the difference between helpful exercise and unhelpful exercise. In my experience, more people misunderstand the science behind exercise than any other aspect of losing weight, leading to a great deal of pessimism and wasted effort.
Why do I put ‘secrets’ in quotes? Because although there are sites that will charge you a small fortune for this information, in fact losing weight does not involve arcane and expensive ‘secrets’ and it is not rocket science — just ordinary, basic science of the type anyone can easily understand. Sadly there is so much money to be made from weight loss that sound advice often gets diluted by people who are trying to sell you a gimmick.
You might not need all of these tips, but if you struggle to reach your ideal weight, carefully following the advice here guarantees success. We’ll look at each tip in depth in later articles.

If you follow these steps correctly, you WILL lose weight.
But don’t take my word for it; try it and see for yourself …
